Cedarwood Himalayan is closely related to Cedarwood Atlas and produces a very similar essential oil in composition and therapeutic properties. Cedarwood oil with its warming, harmonising, calming and soothing action is excellent to relief stress, anxiety and nervous tension. With its expectorant and antiseptic action it aids in respiratory conditions such as mucous congestion, bronchitis, sinusitis and brochial coughs.

Cedarwood oil has a rich, honey colour and a warm, woody, sweet smell that has the restful centring effect of a forest. This warm, woody-balsamic fragrance of Cedarwood oil appeals to both sexes. The oil is extracted from Cedar wood chips by the process of steam distillation.

Cedarwood oil has been in use for many centuries. The ancient Egyptians used it in cosmetics, perfumery and in the process of mummification. It is also used in incense. Nowadays, it is used commercially for its fragrance in a variety of household products and also in the manufacture of cosmetics and toiletries, in particular aftershaves. 

Aromatherapists use Cedarwood oil in steam inhalation or vaporised for the treatment of respiratory ailments such as coughs, bronchitis and catarrh.

A few drops Cedarwood oil  added to a sitz bath or as a compress make it an ideal remedy for  bladder and kidney infections due to its antiseptic properties.

As a skin  or facial oil Cedarwood with its astringent and antiseptic properties can be useful to treat pimples and acne, oily skin and shaving nicks. Cedarwood oil helps to relief chronic skin conditions like dermatitis, eczema or psoriasis. As excellent hair tonic a few drops of Cedarwood oil added to the final rinse water when washing your hair is effective in treating dandruff, seborrhoea and alopecia.

Cedarwood oil is a great deodoriser and is wonderful in a soothing footbath for aching smelly feet In a spritzer the warm and pleasant smell of Cedarwood oil can freshen and clear a room of odour or stagnant energy.
